Gunter Derleth has spent many years walking the streets of Venice, following the footsteps of Ernest Hemmingway, Thomas Mann and Ian McEwan. In his hands he always has a primitive pinhole camera (the original camera obscura), and its long exposure time lends a unique softness to his images. A portrait of Venice has thus evolved over the years emanating the rich, ambient atmosphere of the city.
After 30 years of commercial photography, Günter Derleth (born 1941) found back to the roots of photography. With a pinhole camera he captured the special atmosphere of the lagune city of venice. His book "Venice: Camera Obscura" received teh Kodak Fotobuchpreis
